Presenting the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards

I had the great honour of presenting the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards DofE Scotland to students at their awards ceremony at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. I was invited along to give a talk about my journey which might inspire the awardees and present each individual in both my groups with their certificate. His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex also came round to speak to and congratulate the young people. I never did the Duke of Edinburgh award and after hearing the journeys that these young people have had I just hope I have inspired them even a fraction of the amount that they all have inspired me. It was an honour to meet you all, congratulations again and I wish you the very best for the future!
Primary School Talk on keeping Active
I was invited in to a primary school where I spoke about the importance of staying active no matter your ability and celebrating differences. Just after the end of term I received this wonderful pack of hand drawn thank you cards from the primary 1-2 class who invited me! I am really glad the whole school enjoyed my talk and I hope they are inspired even a little to enjoy the great outdoors a bit more during their summer holidays!

With my ability to speak Gaelic and my continued sporting abilities after amputation I was selected to feature as a large part in a BBC ALBA documentary program on prosthetic legs and amputation. The program is sometimes re-aired on the channel and then featured on Iplayer for around a month afterwards, keep checking back to see if it's live on the link below!

Summiting Ben Nevis STV news report

An aim I set myself during my recovery was to reach the summit of Britain's highest mountain with 10 friends before the anniversary date of the accident. I raised over £2000 for the Scottish Mountain Rescue Service and Royal National Lifeboat Institute and I was reported on in a number of newspapers and featured in a story on the STV primetime news at 6pm.
