Adventure Andy MacLeod

Team GB Para Athlete. Instructor. Motivational Speaker.

After losing my right leg below the knee and receiving a brain injury in a road accident on my bicycle in 2011, I haven't lost my sense of adventure and I'm aiming to explore what is still possible along my journey towards representing Great Britain at the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympics. I hope to show others the benefits that an active lifestyle will bring!

What's here

From losing my leg and receiving a brain injury at the age of 18 to reaching an international level in competitive sports, I aim to inspire and motivate people to live more active and rewarding lives. My Facebook and Instagram pages will give more regular updates on my activities but here you will find more on my story, events, guest appearances and media features I have have been in.

I have been perform inspirational and motivational speeches to a number of primary schools, high schools and charitable organisations such as Youth Groups and Disability Access Panels. Through my life story I can cover:

  • road safety

  • the benefits of the outdoors and living an active lifestyle

  • being open about mental health issues

  • staying positive

  • being accepting of both others and yourself

  • seeing the opportunities and making the most of difficult situations

  • being determined in chasing your dreams, not matter what stands in your way.

On social media I will be sharing my journey competing as a British athlete on the World Cup circuit in Para-Snowboard Cross and Banked Slalom racing during the winter months and Mountain Biking and other sports during the summer. Be sure to like and follow my pages to keep up to date with the latest developments!

I would like to thank my sponsors for supporting me to follow this amazing opportunity. Thank you to ISUZU Motors UK for their financial support and GoPro cameras; to Watermans Claims and Care for supporting me through all 6 years of my compensation case and since with the purchase of a race specific snowboard to compete with and to Charles MacLeod Stornoway Black Pudding for my practice race boards; to Harris Tweed Hebrides for their financial backing and to Rarebird Design Harris Tweed garment manufacturer for their financial support and their lovely scarves to keep me warm and stylish on the slopes!
