Andy MacLeod Adaptive Adventure
Team GB Athlete. Amputee. Instructor. Motivational Speaker.
After losing my right leg below the knee in a road accident on my bicycle in 2011, I haven't lost my sense of adventure and I'm exploring what is still possible!
I've had a very unique experience in life and wish to share my experiences to help others through similar situations and help in the development of their support back to activity.
On this site you can find video posts of my different adventures as well as informative videos and blog posts looking at my experience using different prosthetic legs for different activities. Be sure to Like and Follow my Facebook page for more regular short posts.
Along my journey I have met many people on all sides of the amputee world, I am happy to be contacted for further information or anything you think I may be able to help with or at least point you in the direction of someone who can.
Most of my posts will be related to my current position on the Great British Para Snowboard team, training for and competing across Europe in the Europa Cup and FIS competitons, working towards the 2022 Beijing Paralympics!
Other posts will be made on mountain biking and other sports as and when I get the opportunity to take part in them.
I would like to thank my sponsors for enabling me to begin this amazing opportunity. Thank you to ISUZU Motors UK for their financial support and GoPro cameras; to Watermans Claims and Care for supporting me through all 6 years of my compensation case and since with the purchase of a race specific snowboard to compete with and to Charles MacLeod Stornoway Black Pudding for my practice board; to Harris Tweed Hebrides for their financial backing and to Rarebird Design Harris Tweed garment manufacturer for their financial support and their lovely scarves to keep me warm and stylish on the slopes!
Achievements to date
Milestones on my journey
March 3rd 2012
Before the anniversary date of the accident I was supported by 12 friends to summit the highest mountain in the UK, raising £2000 for the Mountain Rescue Service and Royal National Lifeboat Institution in the process. It was truly a day of all four seasons! I was reported on in several news outlets including the STV news.
Olympic Torch Relay

I was very privileged to be nominated for and carry the Olympic Flame through Forfar. I am very thankful to all the people who supported me in becoming a Cuture Flame with Coka-Cola. I was invited to take part in the Hyde Park celebrations concert in London where I was interviewed by Sir Johnathan Edwards on the big screen in front of 60,000 people!
Tjorn, September 2012
What can you say when someone invites you to 3 days in Sweden, all expenses paid. All I had to do was cycle 90km as part of a triathlon team sponsored by prosthetic leg manufacturer Ossur! Easier said than done but we completed it and have the medals to prove it!
Held the Commonwealth Baton
July 6th 2014
I had the privilege of carrying the Queens Commonwealth Games Baton in Aberfoyle where I had the lucky slot before lunchtime, which meant I was able to hold the baton and engage with the public for 45 mins in addition to my run with it! During this time I was Interviewed by STV news and took part in a little Highland dancing with a pipe band as well as posing for many photographs with people!
